Author Biography

Simran Kaur, York University

Simran Kaur.

I am a doctoral candidate in the department of Humanities at York University. Currently I am in the third year of PhD studies at York. My work includes diaspora studies in a Canadian and North American context, transnational feminism, and critical race theory. I work extensively within the Children's Studies program in the Humanitites. I have taught for the past two years in Children's studies and written extensively on the specific representation of brown bodies in children's picture books. Inclusively, my work in children's studies focuses on gender and race as significant markers of representation in children's literature.
